DESCRIPTION:
APW - United States Watch Co, Marion, Edwin Rollo, first serial number made of this grade, 11-15J, 18S, 4oz coin silver Am. Watch Co. HC recase, white enamel SS dial, KWKS, gilt mvt, s#4001. The present watch is notably the first serial number made from the first run of Edwin Rollo grade production.
CONDITION:
Mvt: Ticking sluggishly on a full wind, overhaul recommended, fair cosmetic mvt condition overall, plates with yellowed tone, dark spotting which is most notable to barrel bridge at "Marion" marking, small capital "A" scribed to main plate below s#, some marring near seat of hairspring stud, hairspring stud with fine scratch striations to its foot presumably from sanding or filing, gold balance jewel setting and its non-blued screws are likely replacements, faux setting around third wheel jewel with a mismatched screw, oxide to tip of regulator; dial with patched chip to left perimeter of seconds-register and patched chip and associated small adjacent fracture bordering left perimeter of seconds-register, scattered hls to upper portion; excellent hands, hour and minute are blue, seconds-hand is plum colored; case shows ample wear, a moderate overall patina, numerous short scratches to rear, scratches to pendant, few very mild shallow dents to rear, reduced engraving detail, front lift spring is not contacting lid to fully opened position and lift spring is weak allowing opened lid to tilt back nearly to closed with gravity; bow pivots freely, push shows medium wear; glass crystal with ample glue excess at its seat.
